The following are the the speeches made by the presenter of this year's Prize for Truth-Telling, law professor and attorney for Guantánamo detainees Joe Margulies, and prize recipient Matthew Diaz, the former officer of the Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps who was convicted in 2007 for disclosing the names and serial numbers of the prisoners held in Guantánamo.
Jeremy Scahill, a Nation Books author and Fellow at The Nation Institute, discusses the mercenary company, Blackwater and the September 2007 Nisour Square massacre which left 17 Iraqi civilians dead at the hands of Blackwater operatives. Scahill is the author of the recently released and thoroughly revised and updated paperback edition of his book, Blackwater.
