In one of the more deprived wards of Sheffield is located the most upmarket supermarket - Waitrose. This discarded plastic bag is caught by a tree and waves in the wind almost taunting the tenants of the tower block behind who cannot afford to shop there.
They've demolished the former nightclub known as The Locarno or The Palais or Bed and are building student flats in its place. There'll be a new supermarket there too - hope it's cheaper than Waitrose
This engineering works was amazing. The noise and action of the machines was beautiful to experience. I asked them what they were making but they replied "We're just general engineers". I think this where techno music is made.

This is the former Manpower Services Commission building, now home to DWP and DfES. Geographically Sheffield, is the first major Northern city and this building sits at the top of the old road to London. Therefore this building, erected by the Tories in the 1980's, blocks the psychic flow of energy between the North and the South. It is the epicentre of the UK's North-South divide.
The ancient Turkish city of Marmaris was first known as Physkos and was founded in 6BC. The city of Zeugma was founded in 300BC by Alexander The Great. Here, the Afro-centric Philosopher (in Hair & Beauty) spans the two great ancient cities of Zeugma and Marmaris.
Some years ago I was knocked down by a bus here and I still have a pain in my knee from the event. The council changed the way the crossing worked because of my accident. So the environment made an impact on me and I, in turn, made my mark on the environment.
