This is a quick video I put together of us putting in a free hand inlay in one of the rooms in our office on our last training day. We use the floors in our buildings for hands on training for our crew foremen. The star in the middle is Purple Heart and the rest is a mix of Birch, Maple, Hickory, White Oak, Red Oak and Reclaimed Heart Pine.
This is a small bedroom repair of some of the worst cupping and shrinking I have ever seen. The cause of this type of damage is from years of chemical exposure. Specifically, this room was used as a wood shop and wood stripper was spilled over the floor for a very long time.
Applying water based finish to a hardwood flooring panel at the National Wood Flooring Association's professional training school in Charlotte, NC in November 2007.
This is a straight forward install, site sand and finish of a 2 1/4" x 3/4" common White Oak hardwood floor right on the coast of North Carolina. What a great view!
This video is of an installation and job site sand, stain and finish of a 5/8" unfinished engineered hardwood floor. This floor is a select Red Oak with Merlot stain. The floor was installed in an old car port that has been remodeled into a family room. We are using a buffer to apply the stain in this case.
This was a very time consuming hunting lodge project that we completed several months ago. The open house was held on 3/15/08. The floor is Long Leaf Pine and all of the flooring material was milled from the trees cut to build the lodge. The entire floor was screwed down and all of the screw holes plugged with White Oak plugs. This is one of our favorite projects.
