A video in three parts showing how I make tenor banjo and cello banjo bridges. These bridges also work well with clawhammer banjos but have not been tested in bluegrass banjos. Be careful if you try this.
Mick Moloney plays the O'Carolan tune for a banjo class at the 2008 O'Flaherty Retreat. This is a video for an article in Mel Bay's Banjosessions. Mick plays it on his latest Green Fields of America CD.
After being inspired by Marcy Marxer's version of O'Carolan's Draught, I thought I would try a version of Planxty George Brabazon and O'Carolan's Draught together. The Cello Banjo is wonderful when it plays this kind of music.
This is part of a Mel Bay Banjosessions lesson on how to make triplets on the banjo. Mick Moloney showed me this type of triplet which is produced with both wrist and finger movement. Roger Landes later showed me the same thing which he had worked out independently. I call it the McTwist after Mick. As far as I can tell, it is the most common way to produce a triplet on banjo or mandolin.
