This tree is alongside the path to the Celtic Chapel at Madron and is hung with clouties (pieces of rags and cloth). This is a traditional custom originally carried out to ask the spirits of the well to cure illnesses and ailments. Tradition goes that you are supposed to say a prayer as you tie a cloutie to a branch of the tree & the spirits will accept the offering & you will be cured.

Boys from my scout troop messing around, i know its a bit dumb, but maybe a little bit funny, then the big one gets hurt, oops. But being scouts we just got all first aid on it and he was fine.
