Podcast Yahoo, is an example of a very full featuredpodcast directory. Yahoo's beta offering presentspodcasts from many professional organizationsincluding NPR, Slate Magazine, and others. They alsoorganize their listing by categories, offer a list of themost popular series and episodes currently available,and let users search through the entire database.Yahoo's site is professionally done, and likely haspeople permanently assigned to work on it, and so itdiffers from many of the other podcasting directoriesavailable. Many directories are little more than listingsof amateur podcasters, but Yahoo's site brings out anumber of feeds done by mainstream organization,raising the level of quality available.
For anyone who wants to find a podcast, Yahoo iscertainly a good choice. They have a slick, well donesite that is easy to use. Yahoo even includes software atthe site so that podcasts can be listened to from withinthe web browser. After logging in, Yahoo allows usersto subscribe to feeds they enjoy, letting them be notifiedwhen new episodes are available. Yahoo even has adetailed walkthrough to help visitors create and beginpublishing their own podcast.
Podcast Yahoo clearly demonstrates the ability of acorporate group to create a well made site. While it'svery unlikely that Yahoo or a company like it wouldhave been able to come up with podcasting, once theyknow what to do, they can do it well.
